I saw this very pretty sunflower on a walk and thought that I should take a picture of it. I feel like it is definitely like a goth looking flower without being totally pitch black. It made me think about how the goth/dark alternative aesthetics sometimes just get boiled down to the color black, when in reality I feel like a lot of other complex colors and color combinations are equally as goth as the all-black aesthetic. For example, I really love the dark purple addition to different things I like to wear, like right now I’m knitting a cardigan with black and 2 different colors of purple yarn and I’m really enjoying how it is turning out and feel like it can be part of my wardrobe without clashing with the majority-black-ness of it all.
This plant that I have been seeing all over the island of Kaua’i also has the same vibe as the dark sunflower where it’s technically red, but when you look closer it has a variety of red colors that make it a very multidimensional and eye catching plant.
